The Leprechaun
Who Lost His Gold

Once upon a time there was a
Leprechaun who lost his gold. He searched all over for it but he just could not
find it anywhere.
So he decided to go and look for some gold in the gold mine. He searched and
searched until he found a tiny speck.
"I wish I could find more gold." He said sadly.
For it was almost time for Leprechaun Night. That's when children make traps to try
to catch a Leprechaun.

If a child can catch him he will
give the child all his gold.
He kept on searching until he found a bigger piece of gold. It was about two
centimeters long. He jumped up kicking his heels together.
"Maybe I can find enough gold!" He shouted.
Each time he found a piece of gold it was bigger than the last one. He searched for
a long time until he decided he had enough.
Finally he said, "I think I have found enough gold to give away now, if I get
caught!"

When it became Leprechaun Night
the little Leprechaun left to go to the third grade class at New Jerusalem School.
His bag of gold was very full and heavy.
There were lots of traps for him to look at. Each one had a surprise in it. He
was careful to get the treasures out of every trap except for one.
When he snuck inside and tried to get the treasure the door closed behind him.
"Now this trap is a well made trap," He exclaimed.

He had never been caught before
and he wasn't sure if he liked it.
He tried and tried to get out but he just made himself tired. So he laid down and
went to sleep.
While he slept he dreamed of his home. He missed his dog and his big comfy old
chair. He dreamed he heard scratching noises and he woke up.
When he woke up he saw a little boy looking in the door of the trap. He
seemed to be very surprised to see the little Leprechaun.
|
|
"I caught a
Leprechaun!" The boy exclaimed.
All of the kids in the classroom ran over to the trap to see the Leprechaun.
The Leprechaun gave his gold to the little boy. He sure was glad to be out of that
trap.
"Just try to catch me again next year!" They heard him say, as he
disappeared, laughing out loud.
When he got home he hugged everything he owned. He sat in his chair and fell asleep.
He had a dream about next year.

I hope you
enjoyed reading my story. I wrote this when I was in third grade and, if you were
wondering, I didn't really catch a Leprechaun, but it was fun to pretend that I
did.
